On March 24th, we went to the theatre to see a murder‑mystery play. By a stroke of luck, I was chosen to join the actors on stage! My name is Sergio Matarrán María—I’m friendly and charming, if you ever want to say hello 😊
Back to that moment: it was truly unforgettable. I still remember it like it happened yesterday. I felt a jolt of nerves, fearing that any slip‑up would make the audience boo—but of course, that never happened. Instead, the audience was supportive, which let me relax and enjoy being part of the show.
In short: being on stage was an amazing experience. If you ever want to meet up, I’ll be in the second building

Last month all 1 of ESO students had to write a little poster about important black men and women. I chose to talk about Muhammed Ali, whereas my friend Anas chose Nelson Mandela. Then after two weeks, there was a treasure hunt to find information about important personalities of black history; during recess I was bored, so I signed in with my friend Anas. I really wasn’t expecting to win but we did, we won a ticket for a free sandwich and a drink. The best part was running here and there cooperating with my friend.

Spelling Bee
El pasado 19 de mayo el IES Juan Gris participó en la nueva edición del Spelling Bee, un concurso de deletreo en inglés para alumnos de 1º y 2º de ESO de varios institutos de la zona sur.
Después de varios años sin celebrarse debido a la pandemia, en esta ocasión fue el IES Antonio de Nebrija el encargado de organizarlo. Aparte de nuestro centro y el instituto vecino, también participaron los IES: Clara Campoamor y Velázquez de Móstoles, Dionisio Aguado y La Serna, de Fuenlabrada, El Pinar de Alcorcón y La Senda de Getafe.
Nuestros 8 alumnos hicieron un gran papel, quedando ganadores en varios de los talleres (Escape room, jeopardy game, taboo…) y demostrando su gran destreza deletreando palabras seleccionadas del vocabulario que han estudiado en las distintas asignaturas que dan en inglés. Aunque no ganaron el Spelling Bee (el primer premio fue para el IES El Pinar en 1º ESO y el IES Antonio de Nebrija en 2º) nuestros alumnos demostraron que iban muy bien preparados y quedaron entre las mejores posiciones.
En definitiva, todos disfrutaron de la experiencia, pasando una mañana realizando actividades diferentes y haciendo nuevos amigos
Salida al Teatro. 1º ESO
Hotel Canterville
The 4th of May my class and I went to “Teatro Maravillas in Madrid city centre, to see the theatre play “Canterville Hotel”.
It was about a mother and her son who own a hotel in which it is supposed to be a ghost but it isn’t real. The boy wants to go to see Elvis and he needs 2 dollars, but his mum doesn`t want to give him money. So he sees the opportunity to take 2 dollars when 3 gangsters arrive at the Hotel with 1 million dollars. He finally gets them and two of the gangsters come with him and his friend Bob.
I really liked the way the actors made the story great fun; as for the topic , I think it was not really interesting but I liked it.
You should go to see it, you maybe will like it.

Global Classroom
Actividad dirigida a alumnos de 3º ESO de institutos bilingües en la que se celebra una conferencia como en la Naciones Unidas.
Esta actividad está organizada por la Consejería de Educación de la Comunidad de Madrid y tiene como finalidad acercar a los jóvenes al funcionamiento de la Naciones Unidas.
